MEET CAKE DESIGNER AND CHEESEMONGER ERIN KATE
After Erin Kate graduated from Colorado State University with a BFA in fiber art, she moved to New York City in hopes to find her artistic voice. After searching and watching many a food network show, she discovered that if she could translate her skills into a different medium, she could finally do for a living what she was meant to do, create works of art. Erin attended The International Culinary Center in New York City to gain the skills necessary to become a cake designer. She then moved to New Orleans and was honored to work for one of the best cake designers in the south, Melissa's Fine Pastries. As a side job along the way, she became a cheesemonger at Whole Foods Market. She realized that she not only loved making beautiful cakes, but cheese had become a new found passion. Erin decided to build a life, and her cake and cheese business, in her childhood favorite place, Galveston, TX. She chose Jazz Bird as the name because she's always loved singing old 1940s Jazz tunes and she is a lover of all things vintage.
TAKING THE CAKE
Celebration cakes start at $3.50/serving for buttercream iced, $4/serving for fondant wrapped. Wedding cakes start at $4/serving for buttercream and $5/serving fondant wrapped.
Stacked cheese wedding cakes and cheese board prices vary depending on number of guests, types of cheeses, and any added accoutrements.
